Part I
"If you look at the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden." All of us are searching for the right equation on seeking how to have a happy and wonderful life. But we haven't gone through the correct answer of it. Somehow, some would say that a happy life is when your'e contented with what you have and end up your day with a smile on your face. yet, some says it is when you can have or buy anything that you want after all those days of hard work. Well, different concepts and point of views of what is a happy life though still vague to understand. Which of which is the right meaning of happy life? Maybe it can only be answered by those who had experienced it.
When I was a kid, I look life as easy as it is. Waking up in morning, going to school, having fun in playing, going home, eat and so on. But when I grew up the carefree spirit of a child had slowly shrink inside me. I am covered with ambitions, responsibilities, fear to disappoint my family and a sort of "bitter things". It feels like I'm the contrasting side of Mary Lennox. She who was first self-centered and afraid to try new things in discovering her outside world turned out so differently into a better one. She became more lively, carefree and engages herself with other people. On the other hand, I from being a carefree spirit I turned out to be coward sometimes. I'm afraid to face challenges, taking risk and worst to try on things that I know I'm capable on it.
Just like the Secret Garden, it serves like a mirror of each lives we have as individual. We all need to be nurtured with different experiences that will mold our personalities to be strong and a risk takers. To bloom like the garden, we are supposed to experience happy, sad, fear and adventure feeling. I know, everyone of us are capable of changing ourselves through experiences. However, it is in our hands on how to weigh and choose the things that will boost us to grew uprightly.
Upon reading the book, it inspires me and challenge me to make a change. Even though it gave me sort of questions like how a garden influence a child to grow maturely? How a child like Mary Lennox, influence the other character to be a better one? the story of "Secret Garden" is a story that upholds virtue of life. It focuses on the two protagonist of the story. Colin Craven, the son of Archibald Craven and Mary Lennox, the niece of Archibald Craven. It was about the spell being broken, brought by the Garden which changes their lives. Far from being close spirit of the character and a lonely soul of a child arose a lively character. it is all about personal development and great personality.
The story looks like a resemblance of the story "Peter Pan", "Huckleberry Finn", and "Tom Sawyer". This three stories talk about childish personalities that grows gradually as the character meet friends and face challenges throughout their journey.
Thus, the story of "Secret Garden" is a story that inspire and helps a person to see the bright side of the world that awaits for them.
